━━ Personality ━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━

Known to offer aid to the overlooked and weary, Agrippa bas Sertorius is a familiar figure in unlikely places. In all aspects of life, he strives to lead by example with airs of humility that betray his viciously uncanny appearance. In contrast to his sociable acquiescence, he's careful to never overstay his welcome. The ruin of his empire seems to sit lightly on his shoulders, as if its downfall resolved something already settled within him. Untethered from the past, neither haunted nor burdened by regret. Or so he claims.

━━ Appearance ━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━

The old reaper cuts a gaunt, imposing figure. All long limbs and sharp angles, built less like a soldier than something left too long out in the wind. He keeps his graying, pale blond hair swept back from a face half-lavished in grotesque scars. Most of his wardrobe is adorned with chains, charms, and traditional ornamentation. His attire carries airs of ritual rather than vanity. Dark leathers, worn armor, furred trim, and small hanging relics drape his frame in heavy layers. Overall, he's a formidable prescence who rarely goes ignored.

  • Complexity: ★★★★★

  • Length: Long-term, slow burn.

  • Best Suited For: Garleans with reaper heritage, aetherically challenged individuals, and/or poor unfortunate souls.

  • NPCs: Multiple. Friends and foes.

Agrippa will not mentor magic users, void-touched souls, or anyone who expresses an active interest in voidsent summoning. His natural inclination is to teach those unable to fend for themselves, often with nothing left to lose. This path isn't for the faint of heart.Seeking to instill in his pupils a sense of hyper-awareness and discipline, he frequently pushes them to confront their limitations in most brutal fashions. His methods are rigorous, cutthroat, and interwoven with compassion for tradition and growth alike.Broadly speaking, someone has to be in dire straits to seek his tutelage. It will not be suitable for every character. More importantly, I'd much prefer to write these themes with someone equally invested in Garlean and Reaper lore. Thanks for understanding!

The Sertorius bloodline carries with it a storied legacy.Deeply rooted in the ancient traditions of Locus Amoenus' people, many of Agrippa's ancestors were among the founders of Lar, a hidden reaper village nestled within the caverns of Lapis Manalis. It was actually his late grandfather, Nonus, who served as a bridge between their insular world and the imperial officials who sought their deadly prowess in matters too delicate for conventional forces.Despite Nonus' best efforts, however, nothing could withstand the inevitable tides of progress. The advent of magitek brought a seismic shift to the reapers' way of life. As machines eclipsed traditional methods of warfare, their order was increasingly viewed as obsolete, dangerous, and unnecessary. The bond between the empire and the reapers frayed over decades, replaced by mistrust and disdain. The breaking point came in the wake of a failed assassination attempt on Emperor Solus zos Galvus. Though the plot was never fully proven as a coordinated effort, the mere suspicion was enough to seal Lar's fate.Branded as traitors, the reapers were hunted down with brutal efficiency. Their homestead became a battleground, its halls of stone and shadow filled with the cries of the dying as imperial forces sought to eradicate their former allies. In the carnage, half of the reapers’ number were lost. Arrested, executed, or vanished without a trace.

Lar's destruction fractured their numbers into multiple smaller factions. Some remained in Garlemald's capital, choosing to live in secrecy. Others joined the Eorzean order of Lemures. Agrippa, meanwhile, led a collective of reapers into the northern reaches of Nhalmasque. Together in the mountains, they strove to rebuild what had been lost. The relocation did not come without its own myriad of hardships. A lack of imperial support made every choice a life-or-death matter in the frozen wastes. Many perished in the process, while a handful of others abandoned the effort altogether. Agrippa was among the remaining few, having lost his wife, family, and numerous comrades along the way.Two decades passed in relative peace, for all their struggles, until Anima's summoning rendered Garlemald asunder; creating a paradigm shift that forever changed the power dynamics of the star.Upon accepting an invitation from Lemures, Agrippa chose to depart on a search that has carried him to the far-flung edges of Eorzea. What he seeks, none can say. Yet those who cross his path often feel as though they've encountered something larger than the man himself; a harsh echo of a bygone era, still shaping the world around him.

reaper mentorships

Depending on his curent state of affairs, Agrippa is sometimes willing to mentor persons he considers worthy in the art of reaper pacts. Although he doesn't shy away from breaking some conventions, such as passing on his teachings to non-Garleans, he's known for being highly selective about the students he takes under his wing.
(Do you have what it takes?)

assassin for hire

The driving force behind every reaper. Despite taking jobs less frequently these days, bounties remain Agrippa's primary source of aether. He's a frightfully adept hunter with decades of experience. Pray to the Twelve that you do not become a mark for his avatar's boundless appetite. You'll be in for a struggle unlike any other you've faced. (Will you survive the onslaught?)

battlefield's wraith

Do you remember the taste of iron in your mouth? The shrieks of your comrades as a vagrant scythe laid them to rest? You were the sole survivor. Another battle hopelessly lost for the empire, only for your squadron to be stepped over by a towering figure in the aftermath. Surely, you recall his face. The salt that persists in your still-festering wound. (The one who spared you.)

pomanders & potions

With a voidsent pact steadily cleaving away at his years, Agrippa stays vigilant in keeping his aging body in check. He's an avid enthusiast of nootropics and alchemical compounds. Regardless of legality, he'll pay quite handsomely for remedies he finds himself becoming fond of. Always a polite and loyal customer through and through. (Now then, what've you got?)

  • Complexity: ★★★☆☆

  • Length: Short or long-term.

  • Best Suited For: Those on the run, or fellow bounty hunters competing for the same mark.

  • NPCs: Depends on the above.

For Hydaelyn's ill-fated souls marked for death, there is no respite.Even the most fortified defenses crumble beneath a reaper's raw tenacity; for they do not merely track their targets, they dismantle them. Piece by piece. Enacting psychological warfare, seeping through the faintest cracks in their prey's armor, everything is fair game. To survive an encounter is no simple matter of strength or cunning, but sheer providence. And for most, even that will not be enough. It's not beyond Agrippa to take pity on another's unfortunate circumstances, even amidst the tension of a hunt. He does not take lives indiscriminately, nor does he revel in needless bloodshed. When given the choice, he reserves his avatar's insatiable hunger for the truly wicked and depraved. With a bit of luck, and no small measure of humility, you might be able to strike a bargain for your life.

  • Complexity: ★★★★★

  • Length: Long-term, ideally.

  • Best Suited For: Former imperial soldiers. Particularly those who actively served during wartime.

  • NPCs: Yes, likely off-screen.

During the height of the imperial rebellion, when chaos gripped conquered lands and the blood of countless soldiers stained the soil, Garlean forces endured defeat after bitter defeat. The wake of these clashes left battlefields strewn with the dying and the dead. Survivors who clung to life found no aid in Agrippa's approach. With precise and unflinching strikes, he wordlessly ended their suffering. His eyes, cold and searching, fixated on the face of each soldier before the final blow. He looked not with malice. Something ran deeper. For him, each face seemed to hold the potential for revelation, yet none ever satisfied an unspoken question.Who, or what, was he looking for in the wreckage of war?

  • Complexity: ★★☆☆☆

  • Length: Short or long-term.

  • Best Suited For: Alchemists, apothecaries, and drug peddlers of questionable morality.

  • NPCs: Optional.

Agrippa's regimen is as disciplined as his approach to battle. Elixirs to sharpen his reflexes, tinctures to bolster his stamina, and unconventional concoctions to sustain his wellbeing are all staples of his daily routine. Without them, the years he has given to battle and the demands of his avatar begin to weigh on him.He approaches these enhancements with a pragmatic eye, understanding the delicate balance between benefit and dependence, never allowing himself to fall prey to complacency. Every dose is meticulously tracked, its effects monitored with a scholar's precision. Should a compound reveal even the faintest hint of diminishing returns, he'll swiftly seek new alternatives to maintain his edge.

OOC Tells: Sure! Walk-Ups: When I'm RP-tagged. ERP: Established Connections.

Hello, I'm Mezza! Thank you for taking interest in my Mads Mikkelsen skinwalker.I've played XIV regularly for about seven years now, but have been role-playing through several mediums for well over 20 years. With post length, I lean towards paragraph format, though usually make an effort to mirror my RP partners. I'm a slow typist sometimes.In-game is my preference for casual interactions, while Discord threads are preferable for more in-depth scenes that require some theater of the mind. I'm open to either, though my replies will be less frequent over Discord. My timezone is Eastern Standard (UTC−05:00).I'm a 30-something, happily married woman, and only write with people over 21. Do not flirt with me. Most of all, I strongly value the distinction between IC and OOC, and believe that communication is the most important aspect of this hobby. If our values don't align there, we probably won't be a good match.

What I'm About:

  • Long-term plots with overlapping arcs and some light slice-of-life between. Balance and variety are crucial when it comes to keeping my interest.

  • Dark themes. Survival, horror, action, adventure, mystery, etc. I genuinely adore writing conflict in all forms.

  • Developing intense, excruciatingly slow burn interpersonal relationships. Friends, lovers, rivals, colleagues, etc.

  • OOC friendships! Sharing memes, shitposts, playlists. I love to yap!

  • Bending XIV's lore within reason.

  • Decorating my housing spaces to suit the needs of specific settings/scenes.

  • DM'ing scenes with dice systems, playing NPCs for story purposes.

  • Crime Times and Light Codes, but only if we're actively writing together.

Not Interested:

  • Gratuitous ERP. Agrippa is open for romantic plots, but I only write smut with close friends. Unless we've written together for a while, expect anything NSFW to fade to black.

  • WoL/canon characters. They just don't vibe with what I usually enjoy writing.

  • Overly modern aesthetics. Aside from obvious exceptions for S9 characters, this is my biggest immersion-killer.

  • OOC Politics. FFXIV is my vehicle of choice for escapism. I'm almost never interested in discussing heavy topics pertaining to the real world, sorry.

  • Anyone under 18. This applies to both writers and characters. No exceptions.

  • I have zero tolerance for bigoted, demanding, or jealous RP partners. Anyone who doesn't understand that real life > role-play can fuck off.
